Episode No. 5: Mary Stella, Dolphin Research Center

Like any human being, I had an interest in dolphins: what they can do, how that evolved, and who studies them. So I reached out to the Dolphin Research Center (located in the Florida Keys) and got a chance to interview Mary Stella, their Director of Media and Marketing. In the process, I learned a ton — how Mary came to love and work with dolphins, how dolphin pods work, various new directions in research, a little bit about evolution and language, and the fascinating echo-location processes. This is one of the most informative interviews I’ve done for this podcast. I hope you guys agree. Enjoy!

What’s This All About?

This is a blog and podcast series about the work we all do: the highs, the lows, the effectiveness, the intrigue, the models, the double speak, and the passion. The point is to have discussions with people in those fields about their life and experiences. And hey, sometimes the stories might be funny, too. In the spring of 2013, the new posts started to fade, but you can find them all on iTunes.
