Jack Deskins is the Arts Coordinator at the West Virginia Department of Education. In that role, he works with curriculum and instruction in the arts throughout the state — and he’s also extremely articulate about the role that arts and music should be playing in our schools right now, despite the general focus on testing.

I talked to Deskins because my day job, at Learning Matters, produced a piece for PBS Newshour about arts education. You can watch the piece here:
